IMO
In my opinion firearms are a tool. They are harmless without a person picking them up and using them whether that is for good or for bad purposes. The right for a person to own a gun is guaranteed by the Bill of Rights under the Second Amendment. Firearms can be very beneficial to individuals whether that is for hunting, recreational use, or for personal protection because of these benefits I feel that firearms are something that should be allowed in society. Without firearms there would be people who struggle to provide for their families and others that lack means of protection. With firearms being vital to society I still think there are things that can be done to insure the safety of individuals. I feel that to be able to insure the safety of people there should be background checks to be able to purchase a firearm not just from a retailer, but also from sales between individuals. I also believe that firearms need to be kept out of the hands of individuals that are mentally ill. For this to happen their needs to be better resources available for people to be able to get the help they need when dealing with mental illnesses. The upright ban of guns is not a solution that will work. If banning all firearms is the solution that is tried there will be greater divide in a time where people need to be brought together. I feel that giving states the right be be able to determine magazine capacity and the accessories that are able to be used on firearms can help solve the problem, but putting bans on specific firearms and types firearms should not be allowed as I feel that it is in violation of the Second Amendment. I think that should also be uniformity when it comes to conceal carry laws across the country to keep people safe.
